Sleep Tight Farm is an informational picturebook that illustrates the steps a farmer along with his family takes to prepare the farm for frost and colder winter weather.

I honestly didn’t know how much work was involved in preparing a farm for winter and appreciated learning it. It also gave me a new appreciation for the amount of work farmers and farm workers do because we have a tendency to forget the origin of the food we buy at supermarkets. Well okay I do. This was a wonderful way to get a look behind the scenes.

Sleep Tight Farm would be a wonderful book to use in class when discussing agriculture–particular for grades K-3. It is very accessible and the presence of child characters will make kids more confident in asking questions.

The artwork is not my favourite but it serves its purpose well.

  • It’s so important that kids grow up with an understanding of where food comes from, it’s been shown to have a direct connection to healthy eating habits, so stories like this are great!
