Mitford at the Hollywood Zoo is about the assistant to an editor of a fashion magazine who apparently is a whiz designer, accessorizer, and everything in between. The picturebook satires the fashion world especially the world as shown to us through movies/books such as The Devil Wears Prada. I am not certain that children will be able to get the jokes; adults will be more familiar with the people the book makes fun of. Still, the art is accessible and bright, and in my experience, children tend to make their own stories despite you reading the actual words out to them.
Mitford at the Hollywood Zoo definitely amused me. Perhaps a gift for a fashionista friend? You are never too old for picturebooks.

A Season to Bee which is both written and illustrated by Carlos Aponte has a simple enough premise. At the advent of a new season, insects consult the Bee for the best ideas on the colours to wear so she leads them through the entire rainbow of colours.
The art is bright, vibrant, and beautiful. I just really love the art, all right? The prose is fun to read out as the story is told in rhyming verses. The language has a definite kick to it that will make bedtime reading a lot of fun.
Also, the picturebook is superbly inclusive–as a said, a whole rainbow. Draw your own conclusions. Very much recommended.
