With Halloween right around the corner, it is the perfect time to indulge in this collection of chilling stories by Anna Claybourne. Obviously this book is not something you read from cover to cover on one go (unless that is your thing; I am not judging) but reading a few stories here and there can bring a lot of thrill into your life.
What is also (if not more) terrifying is the presence of the many pictures that often add the perfect chill to the story. Did you know there was an island of dolls where dolls hung from trees like the terrifying things they are? I didn’t either and now I do and ugh, I’m going to have nightmares.
The short (a paragraph or two is dedicated to each phenomenon) stories are curated by the theme common to them. For instance, the ghost stories associated with the White House or ghosts occurring in ships etc. And this is seriously terrifying because these stories are not fiction but actual happenings.
If horror is your thing, I sincerely recommend it. As for me, I’m sleeping with the lights on today.
