This is going to be an extremely short review. Seriously:
A sudden rebellion destructs the relative peace holding together the worlds and invites chaos to reign supreme. Only a not very good sanddancer and her two sidekicks, one of them distinctly manmade, can save the five worlds from subordination by a very evil being as villains usually are.
Splendid characters, wonderful art, and a brisk narrative pace lead to a fun story that will be a favourite among middle graders looking for fun series to start. Strongly recommended.

The domovoi’s gaze wandered, and his mouth drooped open. “I am weak,” he slurred. “And the wood-guard is weak. Our enemy has loosened his chain. Soon he will be free. I cannot keep him out.” “Who is the enemy?” “Appetite,” said the domovoi again. “Madness. Terror. He wants to eat the world.” “How can I […]

An outline of treetops formed through the walls of the house. The fire in the windows turned pale yellow, then green, then blue, a watery shadow printed on the trees. And then the house, with its brass, its ivy, and its fiery windows, melted into the night. Camrose has inherited responsibility for an ancient bone […]
