It was a “love freebie” and I decided to go with this. What books gave you the most satisfying conclusions to a story/series–even if they aren’t your typical fairy tale ending?
There’s a theme here.
- Sorcerer to the Crown by Zen Cho.
- The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison
- Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins by Eric Kimmel; illustrated by Trina Schart Hyman
- The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stievater
- Wild Robert by Diana Wynne Jones
- The Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor. The trilogy had one of the most satisfying (for me) conclusions ever.
- Plain Kate by Erin Bow
- Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson
Some of these are definitely romantic–just not in the way you’d expect. And they are all, to me, satisfying endings. 🙂
Don’t forget to share your own Top Ten Tuesday list with us in the comments!
Janet I love reading books – when I’m reading for pleasure and not for work – slowly, one chapter at a time, over the course of a week or two. Once mandated by hours at school and doing homework, reading slowly is now a luxury: reading slowly means I live more fully in each part […]
Janet Exactly how long a list am I allowed to write? Note: the list below is comprised strictly of books that have already been published. The first six Amy Unbounded comics by Rachel Hartman. (Technically, not a book, as these were never collected, unlike the next six, which were published as Amy Unbounded: Belondweg Blossoming.) Cart and Cwidder, […]
This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is all about the book recommendations we did not regret. Or, maybe we did. Either way, the person who recommended these books was the reason we picked them up. Join in on the Top Ten fun in the comments! 🙂 Steph Lockwood & Co series by Jonathan Stroud. This was […]
Look, no one tagged us, but I saw this lovely post on B & C Book Blog (who, by the way, also have an A+ instagram account, go look) and I just had to gently nudge my team into participating. The tag is originally by Kimberley Faye Reads, where she has a .zip file for all […]
Top Ten Tuesday is a meme by The Broke And The Bookish. Pretty sure we’ve done this before, but we’ve also read a lot more since then– I think our lists might be different this time. Yash Kenettra and Merroutas from The Young Elites by Marie Lu: Kenettra is where the majority of the story takes […]
Top Ten Tuesday is a meme by The Broke And The Bookish. This one is a random pick from their list of previous topics. Steph Brian Jacques Redwall series was recommended to me by friends in middle grade school. These were some of my favourite books so I’m very glad I got to read them. Judith […]
Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Today’s theme is a Book Wars original. Books that defied expectation. Books that you didn’t think you would like but ended up loving. Nafiza This happens to me a lot. I will read books reluctantly and then have them blow my mind. […]
TTT is by The Broke and the Bookish. Yash To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han: I don’t know if I’ve ever made a post about realistic fiction/romance on here. Hmm. In any case, I did love this one. And I hear a sequel is coming out soon! (Though I think it […]
TTT is by The Broke and the Bookish. Given our Cover Wars feature, I don’t think I should limit this list to ten … Yash Funny how YA books by men (even if they are primarily romance) get better covers. *ahem* Basically, I want MG-style illustrated covers for all my YA faves. I have, mercifully, only […]
